In France a gîte used to be a term describing quaint farmhouses where guests could stay in the french countryside. Now it is used to describe holiday accommodation where the owner is close at hand to provide assistance and a warm welcome. Your host , Cécile, grew up in France and after marrying a South African left her home country to settle in South Africa. The French way of living is still closed to her heart.
The property is situated in the quiet suburb of Lyttelton Manor within close proximity to the Centurion CBD , numerous shopping malls and markets. The Gautrain Centurion station, Centurion Super Sport Park and Netcare Unitas Hospital are all within 5 min drives of the property. Groenkloof Nature Reserve and the Rietvlei Game Reserve are also at close proximity .
We love entertaining and preparing home cooked meals from the traditional South African braai, pizzas in the wood fired pizza oven, sourdough bread baking, to French cooking, not forgetting vegetarian or vegan options. The large lapa is for our guests’ enjoyment but can also be rented out for gatherings, concerts, celebrations, yoga classes, retreats or reunions.
We also have a fully equipped mechanical and engineering workshop and lots of expertise for overlanders in need of technical help.
Annex: a self sufficient unit ( 4 people ) with two rooms, a bathroom and a kitchenette. It is adjacent to the owner’s house and opens onto the lapa
Guest house: an independent house with 3 bedrooms ( sleeps up to 5 people ), a bathroom , a separate toilet and a basic kitchen.
